FIND an OWNER by NAME

Whitepages Search:
Now that evacuees are returning home, that is the first place you should try. There are many resources that serve this purpose. I recommend:
www.whitepages.com/

Also there are the following:
http://www.switchboard.com/
http://www.anywho.com/
http://www.whowhere.com/
http://www.infospace.com/
and many more...

Google:
You might also search the name on
www.google.com/ to see if you get any hits which might provide clues as to where they work. That would provide an alternate way to contact them.

Classmates:
Try searching www.classmates.com/, as many people at one time or another have signed up with them, so you might have an opportunity to contact the person through there. (Note: Classmates does charge for their "gold" access to be able to send an email so you must find someone with an account to send the email for you)

KatrinaList:
www.katrinalist.net is a compilation of all the website sources which popped up after Katrina listing who was okay and who was missing. You might find the person you are looking for on this list, also you might find someone who was also looking for the person you are looking for and their contact information so that you can give them a call to find out what they know as of now. This will list a person as found or not, but keep in mind that is only if they have checked in somewhere that has made it to the list, which is unlikely in most situations. Look for contact info here.

Red Cross:
http://www.katrinasafe.com/Main.aspx
Locate an evacuee and find out their status.
http://www.familylinks.icrc.org/katrina/people
Use this list as a backup and make sure there is no new information here that isn't on katrinalist.

NOLA.com Missing Persons
This is the Times-Picayune website's database and message board. Search both of these to see if the person you are looking for has been found or to see if anyone else might possibly be looking for them and if they have any information.

FIND an OWNER by PHONE # ONLY

Reverse Phone Search

I recommend this one:

http://www.whitepages.com/10001/reverse_phone

Or if you want to see all on one page:

http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/

This service creates a voicemail box for people based on their old phone number:

http://contactlovedones.org/

If you need to find out where a phone is located, try:

http://www.fonefinder.net/

or

FIND an OWNER by ADDRESS ONLY

Whitepages Search:
Now that evacuees are returning home, that is the first place you should try. There are many resources that serve this purpose. I recommend:
www.whitepages.com/

Also there are the following:
http://www.switchboard.com/
http://www.anywho.com/
http://www.whowhere.com/
http://www.infospace.com/
and many more...

Trouble with Addresses?

Try the NOLA Area Street Name List

If the street NAME is wrong:
Enter the zip code here and you will see all streets in that zip code: http://www.melissadata.com/Lookups/zipstreet.asp
or
Enter the zip code + street number here and you will see all streets in that zip code which contain that street number: (works well if first letter of street name is off)
http://www.melissadata.com/Lookups/zipnumber.asp

If the street NUMBER is wrong:
Enter the street name, select the state, select the city, and you will get a list of deliverable addresses on that street. You might be able to determine which number is off.
